================================================ St. Johns Wort is not, to my knowledge, dangerous in its own right. The problem is, when you COMBINE it with toxic drugs, there can be unforeseen repercussions. BYI, SSRIs don't raise serotonin per se. They cause the body to recycle what serotonin is already present. However, this in and of itself creates problems on its own. I strongly recommend a great book by Julia Ross called The Mood Cure. She explains why supplementing with amino acids is safer and more reliable than pharmaceuticals. She details which amino acid supplements you should take under what circumstances, how they work and interact with the body, and the kind of results you can expect.
