Flavor can be a bit subjective. Some foods coating the taste buds can enhance the flavor, some can mask it. If the water wasn't all that pure, the generator won't run as long and less of the total will be 'silver'.
Some contaminants will allow the gen to run for quite a while making non conductive particles of insoluble silver salts while not contributing much that adds to conductivity..the water will usually get quite cloudy grey and a lot of stuff on the bottom BTW, the flavor is from the [alkaline] OH- anion produced in a 1 to 1 ratio with the Ag+ silver ions.
