Turning yellow in any time is of no value other then it didn't turn black!

A cloud after stirring means you had a mixture, which settled out
 -yes, dump it. Metal will not hurt anything (unless between the
electrodes), you after all have two metal electrodes there full time!

stirring, then I think you don't have a colloid, so maybe don't use it
