Had our first six foot brown of the season yesterday; I was at the top of the steps, a curious chook was at the bottom and the snake was in the middle.... the hoe [kept on hand for such emergencies was at the bottom of the steps too... leaning against the rail . Frantic shouts brought husband running. "Use the hoe", I shout. "Where is it?" he asks.. There is only one item leaning against the rail....a hoe. The snake is now neatly segmented and the bitey part flattened. There is nothing like a quiet life in the country....
