To all interested list members.
Quite recently, our resident "Rube Goldberg"
implemented a rather interesting method for powering a Low Voltage
Colloidal Silver Generator. To wit: By employing a 12 volt solar
battery charger (obtained at Harbor Freight for $19.75), he was able to
get very acceptable results.
The automobile battery charging unit develops about
15 volts (open circuit) in direct sunlight and is capable of sustaining
loads in excess of 500 milliamps for indefinite periods. When operating
in direct sunlight, the closed circuit voltage is around 15 vdc. An
interesting characteristic of the unit is that it works quite well under
incandescent lighting. At 48" from a naked 100 watt incandescent bulb,
the operating voltage is around 14.5 vdc and will support over 350
milliamps, continuously.
Our experimenter connected four (4) generators in
parallel for simultaneous operation and encountered no
difficulties---whatever.
This young gentleman is something of an adventurous sort
and related he was stimulated in this direction because he desired a
dependable power source for a LVDC generator---for the boondock
environment.
Sincerely, Brooks Bradley.
p.s. He did not modify the Solar Charger in any way; he just used two
alligator clip leads to connect to the downstream circuit (Positive
circuit lead to the probe on the Charger and the Negative Silver
Generator lead to either outside band of the Charger plug. Being a
conservative sort, he uses the Charger as a "trickle-charge"
unit on his pick-up truck-----most every day..
