I guess it depends upon the size of the arc Roger.
The smell test is not a good indicator of ozone production.
The only way to limit O3 is to limit O2 in the air, ie. an arc in inert
gas. Activated charcoal will reduce O3 if it is passed over it or
through it.
I would not be too worried about O3 dissolving into solution as cold
water is required for this to ocurr.
