I believe onion to be in the same food group as garlic. They are called sulphates. People who have a sulphur allergy cannot eat eggs, onions, garlic etc. My Mother-in-law being one of them. She also cannot have sulphur drugs and is allergic to Penicillin. I too have never heard that onions are in the nightshade family. Are you sure Brooks? Rhubarb leaves are highly poisonous and can kill you if you eat them. Only eat the stalks.
I am beginning to wonder if I should try to avoid nightshades and see what happens. I cannot eat tomatoes, and potato I get suspicious of.
