More to CK's reply, Some years ago my sister-in-law came out and helped us transplant tomato seedlings for a contract we had to fill. What a disaster - everything she touched died! She had been a long time smoker, and even though she washed her hands first, the tobacco still proved toxic. The plants died at whatever point she touched them - if the stem - they keeled over there, if the leaves, the top just fell off. Transplanting is first done at the two leaf stage - the plants are very tiny. Judith.
