Then call Amex and tell them you want to cancel the card.  When they ask
why, tell them that you received a fraudlent charge and they are
refusing to take care of it, so you want to cancel the card. I had to do
the same thing with Discover card when they gave my card number to an
associated company which billed my card fraudlently.  When Discover said
they would not credit it I told them to cancel the card, then if they
want to try and get the money, I will see them in court.  They backed
down real quick and immediately removed the fraudlent charge.
