I agree with this. The key point is buy-in to both the letter of the 
list rules *and* to the mission.

I think there's a particular talent -- wholly apart from technical and
scientific expertise -- that is needed for a vendor to share his
commercial R&D results with the members of this list without inciting
other vendors to "battle" or coming accross as promotion. It's asking
an awful lot of them, and probably only half of those I've dealt with
in the last four years have been able to do it effectively, or cared 
to try.

I am committed to having as many vendors participate as possible --
but no more! But they will do it without self promotion or catalyzing
arguments. If even their well meaning contributions come at a price
of disruption to other list functions, I cannot afford to ignore it.
