Although Backster gets star billing in "The Secret Life of Plants" (the
opening chapter and about 20 other mentions), he didn't write the book. It
was written by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird.
The only publications by Backster referenced in the book include one
paper published in the International Journal of Parapsychology" entitled
"Evidence of a Primary Perception of Plant Life." The book was published in
1973, though, which may explain no reference to a book by Backster.
