I dunno, I just thought the CO2 blanket was a good idea and adopted it.
I use about an eighth inch arc space above the water and it draws up a cone of
water when the HV is activated.
The cone drops away when the CS gets to a certain ppm. I try to be there just
before that happens.
Like the 27 volt DC system, I see no need to maximize the complexity beyond
"what works for me".
As I recall, it's a 12KV transformer.
