This situation forwarded with permission, I emailed back suggesting she
contact
www.silverlon.com
She emailed a few hours later stating that she would have her silverlon
bandages the next day.
I was so excited that Silverlon would respond so quickly and would be so
helpful to her.
I got another email from her this AM, that email to follow.

Subject: Wellpet Avascualr Necrosis

Hi Everyone,

We had a tiny little Sheltie (12#) brought into the clinic as a stray on
Sunday (probably by the owner). She obviously had a rubber band or some
type of tourniquet around her rear leg about halfway down from the hock.
The paw was grossly swollen, discolored and stinky. The area where the band
was is black & is definitely dead now.

A friend & I are trying desperately to save her leg by applying sugardine
bandages every 12 hours along with hydrotherapy. It seems like we are
making some progress but I wanted to check in to see if you guys had any
suggestions. Any supplements we should be giving (she is eating Flint River
Ranch with a bit of homemade kefir)? and she is on Baytril and butorphanol
for the pain.

Last night was the first time we got a little blood on the top of the foot &
the swelling is definitely going down. I have resisted the urge (&
suggestions of our vets) to put her under and surgically debride the dead
tissue instead opting for gentle scrubbing under warm water. I am afraid
that if we start cutting we may take some viable tissue that she really
needs. What do you think? Any wound healing tips?? Horse folks??

Thanks!
Cindy in Orlando
