Current flow, voltage, electrode surface area, electrode spacing distances are all inter-related in an ever changing water medium that itself is never the same to start with. Change one and everything else changes.
Unless you include ALL the parameters at a single moment in time, no one can give you a straight answer to any given question...and still can't if they don't use the exact same method of measuring those parameters.

What it all boils down to is that you find something that works for you that gives you results you like by experimenting.

Then we can discuss endlessly what those results are and what they mean since there is no real way to quantify them from person to person who is not actually there watching and using the same instruments the same way.

Since words don't have precise meanings from person to person, language itself gets in the way.

So, if you don't get an answer to a question, it's because no one has the time right then to write a book that defines every word in it for you, in their terms, in a communications field that , for instance, still uses "ion cloud" as a description of a particle cloud. [You can't see ions], "redux" is expressed exactly opposite to the logical thoughts of one who has not been "educated" to see it that way and even current flow is described in opposite terms to say the same thing depending on what theory you use. [Try having been taught both ways at once to see how you can be educated out of your mind.]
Push and pull do the same thing but speaking of pull in terms of push can really mess you up and make the simplest concept a morass of misunderstanding.

The saving grace of making CS is, no matter what you do, it all works.
How fast is fast? How big is big? Is clear the same thing as colorless? Are ions better than particles? How much to I take? [as much as you do?]
If you like it, it's good. If you experiment and get something you like more...it's better.
...better than what?
'Round and 'round, Weego.

What standards?
The only ones are the ones you are presently standing on...how high is high? My tape reads millimeters, yours reads in cubits and the other one reads inches and they all say "About, this long" [Holds fish very close to camera]

Ivan, thanks
I will be starting a new and improved batch tonight.
Why the 50mm spacing? Does that serve to limit arcing? My generator has jacks for the electrodes which are soldered in a matching male jack. These are 20mm apart, but I do not have to use that spacing with clips. I'll cut the silver to match both the 1/2 and 1 gal containers in length They are approx the same depth. I'll closely monitor the brewing current as it progresses and use constant stirring as before. That way I can program the %current reduction with some accuracy. With the 1/2 gallon container and no current limiting and a shorter electrode length I was going approx.5 hrs. Do you really think a day or two?? How do other units get the job done quicker?

Glenn
