Mike, Thanks a lot for your suggestions. As to saturating our water purifiers with AgNO3, I've decided to pursue the first idea: after oxidation, pulling out the nitrate, I'll put the purifiers back in the kiln to burn off the carbon. At some future time I may attempt mixing the dry clay with concentrated CS. Reid
