Thanks Mike and others who have responded to my questions!

I just wanted to be sure I wasn't creating some kind of new chemical that could do more damage. I mix up the saline each time I use the neti, because I like it slightly warmer than room temp, so I'll just put some CS in it at that time.

If you've never used a neti, and have sinus infection problems, I can say it's made an incredible difference for me already, and this is without using the CS (have been taking that orally though.) You actually irrigate your sinuses with this technique. It could be done without the special neti pot, but I think it would be a bit more difficult. Anyway, the routine is that you put your saline (and whatever else) into the neti pot - about 8 ounces. Leaning over a sink, you tilt your head so that one nostril is directly over the other. Insert the neti pot spout, and angle it to start the flow of the liquid. It flows into the top nostril, through the sinuses, and comes out through the lower nostril. It is a slow flow, gravity fed. You have to breathe through your mouth while doing this. It takes a minute or so to run the whole amount through. If your head is tilted too far back, it will run down your throat - which can be quickly remedied by simply leaning a bit more forward.

Then you clear your nose by blowing (without holding either side closed.) Then do the whole process again on the other nostril.

As soon as I get set up to make my own CS, I will probably do a CS only, or either a strong CS/saline wash periodically to keep infections at bay. I have added the regular neti wash to my daily routines, morning and evening, just as regular as brushing my teeth.

Once again, thanks for all the responses. I'll post a little later on, after I've started using the CS rinse regularly and let you know how it's working out.

Hi Kim,

If you can tolerate plain CS, use it. The silver still will react with
your tissues and turn into nobody-knows-what... But that's how we use
the stuff anyway. It works, if people's experiences are to be believed.

So, if you can take it, use plain CS. If you want more comfort by
using salt, make it up as you need it and see how it goes.

This has been my experience. Let us know how it goes for you?

Be well,
