Having lurked on this list, I knew when I got a cold 2 1/2 weeks ago I needed to get something to get the CS down into my lungs to get rid of the cold before it turned into an asthma problem too as it often does. I bought a sunbeam ultrasonic humidifier and modified it to have a hose at the outlet of the mister so I didn't have to stick my face in the machine. I used that humidifer for over one week, and I got no relief. In fact I had coughing so bad, I couldn't breathe. So two days ago I went to my doctor who wrote a prescription for a nebulizer. It was delivered that night and I immediately put CS in it and got immediate relief. The coughing was greatly minimized and I was able to finally get some sleep and start healing. My question is....why didn't my humidifier help me? It is ultrasonic, I breathed deep but got no relief. I wonder if the hose was too long? Could the CS have gotten caught in the hose and not delivered to my lungs? My hose is about 2 feet long.
