Indeed, while I was reading up on DMSO last year this was something that made me very angry. By now DMSO should be standard aboard every crash cart and EMS unit. It should be a routine first response to start an IV drip of saline or ringer's and 30% DMSO for stroke, spinal cord and closed head injuries. Entirely safely, DMSO serves to *drastically* reduce intracranial swelling, which is what causes most of the crippling and death from these traumas. Think of all the people who've been crippled or died from trauma to the brain or spinal cord since the 1960's. Every one of them has been denied a chance at life by the FDA's suppression of DMSO research. My mother died from a stroke at the age of 54 in 1980. Mike D.
