We may be mincing words here. Apparently DMSO will dissolve a coating that viruses have which shields them from the immune system. And when this is removed, they are vulnerable to the immune system. So in that case it is true that the DMSO may not kill them directly, but apparently can result in their destruction in the body anyway.
