If you can take a thorough bath or shower within 3-4 hours of exposure, even sensitive people will usually have no reaction to poison oak or ivy. I once lived at a hot springs that was quite remote in the mountains. We had a phone wire that would be overgrown and needed to have the brush around it cleared. We would work directly in grandfather sized poison oak. The plant climbed up trees, and some were 4 inches in diameter at the base. We threw our clothes directly in the washer without delay, and jumped into the pools; no reaction.
