According to http://www.chemindustry.com, Accutane is
different from Retin A.

And since Accutane is a modified form of Vitamin A, it
seems wise to try natural form of Vitamin A (from fish
oil, for example) before trying Accutane. One would
have to take it in large doses: maybe 300,000 IU daily
for some months, and then maybe reduce it to 100,000 IU
or so. NOW Foods produces vitamin A product that come
in 25,000 IU capsules, and it's pretty cheap.

My experience is the opposite. Having woken up from
vegetarian propaganda, I switched to a diet that is
similar to so called Paleolithic diet. It consists of
mostly animal based foods (including beef too, of
course) and nonstarchy vegetables and nonsweet fruits.
This has had a dramatically positive effect on my
complexion. This was duplicated in an online
acquaintance of mine with whom I shared this. She used
to be a vegetarian for many years... with worsening
health in various aspects. I and another poster on a
particular forum where we met convinced her to move
away from the vegetarian diet and eat foods that are
dense in easily utilizeable nutrients -- animal based
foods (including organ meats too). She rather quickly
reported significant improvement in her level of energy
and complexion. She has recently discovered that using
coconut oil internally and externally does her great good.

I now eat beef almost daily. And eggs. Often more than
once a day. No problems..... except for days when my GI
tract isn't performing well enough. And this is
related, based on my observations, to eating sweets
(including sweet fruits too), too much starch (by too
much I mean less than many other people eat), and
stress. If I keep my GI tract working fine, I get no
new breakouts. I don't use any antimicrobe substances,
even CS. I tried several things in this category in my
early years of searching for cure and didn't find them
working.

I'd recommend perusing:

BTW, some people report very good results (temporary,
though) from applying Vick's Vaporub.
