I would give him 10 ppm CS as his only source of drinking water. 
Also would apply 20% DMSO diluted with CS on his skin at least twice a
day. Use a salon type applicator squeeze bottle to get it down into his
thick fur and with a surgical glove on your hand (unless you don't mind
the DMSO taste), spread it around gently. Dog hair tends to shed water
so it should filter down and around the surface of his skin.

No reason not to keep him on the CS. My three dogs get at least 5 ppm
every day in the water dish at home. When they go out to events I put
them on 10 ppm the day before and for the week after. What harm can it
do to give him more CS? Are you worried about herxing -- I wouldn't.
