The newer designs are ultrasonic, quieter and smaller. I am not real up
on which is the best unit. I think a lot of people buy the Omron. I
bought a handheld ultrasonic Mystique.

The older larger ones are not ultrasonic, they are bulkier, heavier and
noisier. That's about all I know. There are old posts in the archives.
Try searching on nebulizer(s) there, and also a Google search might
bring up info on comparisons or eopinions.com may have some consumer
report info.

I have also seen humidifiers that were specially made to have this small
droplet also, used for reptile cages to create a fog effect. Mostly used
in exotic frog and salamander cages to get them to breed. The mist does
not fall out of the air as fast, due to the smaller droplet size.
