I just want to reinforce pj's comment on zinc and the sense of smell. >From my old nutrition classes, bits and pieces stored in the brain, one of the attributes of zinc definitly is restoring a lost sense of smell---also taste. It is also needed for unexplained body odor in a person who has excellent washing habits! And even though it's not *the* prime factor perhaps, zinc certainly has a role in maintaining a healthy immune system.
