Nasalcrom...I also used that, but not much and didn't suffer any ill effects 
that I know of.  The main ingredient was chromolyn sodium, which was also used 
encapsulated in powder form in an inhaler.  There were also capsules you could 
take for food allergies (these I obtained from UK) about 1/2 hour before 
eating.  
 
It was explained to me that chromolyn sodium works by coating the mast cells 
and preventing them from rupturing.  It was very expensive, so I discontinued 
use after awhile.  Guess I'm glad I did. :o)
