Are you certain it isn't just because this winter is so warm in many parts of the U.S.? Just wondering, as here in SW Wyoming, we are having (until a couple days ago) the warmest winter I remember in 30 years. Up to the 15 of Dec, the outdoor water bowls often weren't even frozen, not even a skin of ice, overnight. Normally the frostline is down to 3 ft and this year the ground isn't even frozen at all. This is so unusual it is scary.
