Betsy,
One thing to realize is that jewelry presumably made of "silver" is mixed
with nickel and other metals. This includes "sterling" silver, which is
not
pure enough to be used for making CS. So-called "Mexican silver" is not
even
silver at all.
Are you sure?

Good site, Marshall.
All I know is, when I was doing craft fairs and met people selling jewelry
from Mexico that was really cheap, they all said they could give great
prices because what they sold wasn't real silver, and in fact didn't contain
silver at all. They wouldn't have sold their jewelry at a loss, and they
wouldn't have gotten it so cheaply, if it had silver in it.
Which is why I said in a prior email that what's important is the contents
of the metal, not simply what it's called. Apparently the jewelers I met
didn't read the above website ;-)
