When I was a child in the 1940's about one woman in 10 walking down the
street had a huge goiter.
Food was better and more nutritious then, and there was a massive deficiency
of iodine.  That is why
they started putting iodine in the salt.  When they did that, the goiters
disappeared.... I never saw a man
with one, and don't know if men get them or not..
