A dentist in Japan replaced my amalgams with a substance he identified as "Herculite." It is a brand of composite. I found it mentioned here:

I have been quite satisfied. The appearance is much better, and the material has proven quite durable after several years.

The amalgams had lasted for more than three decades, but I notice a steady improvement in my health after having had them removed.

OK -- I've got a small cavity in a tooth that was previously filled with silver.  The old filling has to be removed in order to deal with the new cavity.  This is a good time to eliminate the silver completely in that tooth.  What exactly should I request the dentist refill the tooth with?  MA
