My wife and I were to our Dr. last week [I am in my 80s,she is 79] and we discussed this tamiflu vaccine. He said", It is a useless vaccine as the flu strain that is coming is not the one for which Tamiflu will do any good." He did not recommend it.He also said all this scare talk about a flu pandemic coming was mostly media hype.Consequently, we went away with out flu shots. Hello, Tamiflu is actually not a vaccine, and turns out it may have only mild anti-viral properties. It's thought that perhaps the way it works is to interfere with an enzymes that reduce the body's tendency for secondary bacterial infections, which usually are the reason for severe illness and not the virus itself. Here's a link to an article on a vet tech blogspot which discusses the use of Tamiflu for treatment of parvo illness in dogs. Pretty interesting, and it relates to any viral infection in any mammal, not just dogs & parvo. Laura H., TX http://vettechs.blogspot.com/2005/04/oseltamivir-is-there-new-treatment-for.ht ml
