Thanks, I don't filter my own CS at all. And I have no visible drop out
in my storage bottles. There is a little build up of the fluffies that
fall off the electrodes on the bottom of my brew jar. I used to scrub
that out religiously, but just don't even bother with that anymore. Is
that a problem?
It seems like filtering as being necessary to have safe CS crops up from
time to time on one list or other, and I never know what to say to them.
But I'd like to say something so others will know not everyone filters
their CS, and don't consider filtering necessary, and also don't
consider unfiltered dangerous, which is how I read the post that made me
ask here.
thanks,
sol

Hi Sol,
Some people are "purists" and bend over backwards to eliminate
something that will not hurt them. The Britta is a good filter.
If one just lets the EIS sit quietly for several hours any large
particles with fall out anyhow. Another good way to get rid of
particles is to place the EIS in a freezer for a day and them thaw it.
All particles will be in the bottom of the container .
You could also wrap the cathode with a piece of white paper table
napkin and it will hold the silver oxide that is formed.
Another solution wold be to vacuum out gas the DW before use so there
will be no oxygen to make silver oxide.
