If it is a problem, Craig, I think the proper realm of inquiry is chemistry, not metallurgy. You're not vaporizing the metal, just putting a lot of complex materials in contact with it at, metallurgically speaking, slightly elevated temperatures. There's a *huge* difference between "outgassing" and "leaching." Meanwhile, I also have not seen primary research material supporting this assertion. Of course I haven't looked for it, either.
