While surfing the net to see if I could find out if anodized steel has the same inherent problems as the others, I came across a site that has stainless steel frying pans:

I also saw a site that describes Teflon as a serious killer of birds such as canaries, parrots, and others exposed to it. But the official FDA site stated in no uncertain terms that Teflon is safe at the temps people usually cook at. (Of course. I suppose Dupont and other Teflon makers are as big in lobbying as the aspartame industry.)
