More than that....it's polarity insensitive.
It doesn't matter which way you plug in or what you plug into it so long as the 36 volt max isn't exceeded. It works it all out on its own and runs. [I have run some on 45 volts and they lived...no guarantees on that though.]

If the output voltage is lower than the auto off reference voltage, it thinks it's time to turn itself off and does, but you can still make CS in manual mode. As little as 3 volts works, albeit very slowly.
