Hi Wayne, I use Trace C-40s. They can be configured as a charge controller, load diverter (one bank is full, switch to another, or switch panel output to water heating are typical applications) or LVD. They are pretty highly evolved, and designed to last a long time. I have used three so far, and they are still performing exactly as expected.
The minimum connected voltage is adjustable, and I think I have mine set a little higher than 10.5 VDC because there is an override button that will allow you to connect a load for 10 minutes. I have on a couple of occasions used this to recharge my pressure tanks with a piston boost pump after a frozen hydrant broke and allowed loss of water till the batts were drained. Thank you very much for your presentation of information in this area. I am very appreciative. ( if a 12 Volt System ) One could build these circuits from scratch relatively easy. Some of our better circuit designers on here may already have an effective circuit. Either solid state relays or mechanical relays must have the capacity to match the load with a decent safety factor. Many people misunderstand electrical codes. Typically, this is the absolute minimum that is safe and effective. Proper Design serves to protect the investment in wiring and equipment. Also, code books state, "This is not to be used as a design manual by untrained people". Wayne -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver.
