I agree -- and for all I know, perhaps there are.  But the whole thing 
doesn't make sense, as I think about it.  No one would risk a multi-million 
dollar 
horse for one race -- even a Triple Crown race.  I wouldn't think.  But maybe 
I'm being naive, but I don't think so.  Other races would increase his value as 
a breeding stallion.  Dead doesn't.  Even if they thought his limping was 
only a ligament or tendon, racing careers have been ruined over those injuries 
too.  And ligaments and tendons are what stabilize joints and bones, so the 
risk 
is obvious.  I dunno -- the whole thing is just sad.   MA
