Ozone can be used for health, it is very good at killing pathogens. It is a very reactive form of oxygen, and in the environment it reacts with some pollutants in the air that are rather non-noxious, and produce very noxious smog. Whether or not ozone itself can be damaging to the lungs is disputed, some make a good case that it is not the ozone that damages lungs, but rather oxides of nitrogen which often accompany ozone.
