Hello Mike:
Does this mean that the batch can not get stronger if run longer when the
sludge is there? One of the reasons I run the batch longer is to get a TDS
reading of 17-19. It later drops to 12-15. When the sludge starts to form,
the TDS reads somewhere between 9-10. I use distilled water 1.2 ppm. Any
ideal what the CS ppm would be at 9-10. I have the yellow coating on the
glass every 2 batches and I have to clean the jars. Takes me about 45
minutes to clean the jars (10 of them). I use a natural soap and cloth and
rinse out completely but it still occurs.

Hi Trudy,
Please forgive me for jumping in here - the yellow color is not bad.
It just means your cs is a bit weaker than it could be.
There is a peak in the silver concentration just before it starts
making lots of sludge on the cathode, or silver hydroxide by
combining the silver ions with hydroxyl ions from the cathode.
Try stopping the brew a bit sooner. That should help reduce the
yellow color, and also increase the strength of the brew.
Best Wishes,
Mike M
