I have been using Exhibit for a little over a year. The largest data
set I currently use contains
a few more that 7000 records. I use primarily the timeline, timeplot,
chart and tabular views.

Relative to IE, I have taken to using Google Chrome Frame to deliver
Exhibit to IE6/7/8 users. Doing
so mitigates almost all the rendering issues and pretty much
eliminates the 'slow responding script' alerts.
In most cases, GCF has been the only way to get data to IE users. It
is a plug in that is pre-beta, but I have had
zero problems with it. Nice thing is, once installed, it only loads
if there is an entry in the header of the delivered page,
so other pages don't even bother to notice it is there. Additionally,
from the developers point of view, the plug in includes
the developer tools, so IE can be used to trouble-shoot pages. It is
almost, but not quite as nice as fire-foxes development tools.
Other browsers simply ignore the header call, so it has no impact on
FF, Safari, Opera, etc... that I have seen.
