Hello Elizabeth,

It is potentially dangerous to download things such as zip files from
unknown or unreliable source cause this can contain viruses and other
"badware".
But I don't think MIT binaries are infected.

As far as I know simile products are open source so everyone can download,
use and/or embed those programs in his own product, in his/her kitchen or
in the world.
