You don't need to run a web server (or space on one) to be able to use
Timeline. I run it happily on a local folder on my Mac. If you download
copies of some of the libraries normally pulled from SIMILE's servers you
can even run it with no internet connection available (a necessity for my
first Timeline project). FWIW, I'm using the stand-alone Timeline v2.3.x as
Exhibit is just too complex for my needs.
