Rather than opening the mailbox file in a text editor, try using Mail Siphon
(<http://www.maliasoft.com/siphon/download.html>). It can log on to a POP
session with the server and get a list of messages without having to actually
download them. You can then download or delete messages individually -- very
cool tool for mailbox management. Also, if you (or your client) happen to use
Mailsmith, it has a 'POP Monitor' feature that does the same thing.
