Hi all,
I have a question stemming from a couple of discussion
threads going on in few other mailing lists. It's just hypothetical,
and presumably Dmitry would be able to answer it off the top of his
head. How long would it take to add to SIMS a check for a "NO UCE"
string in the SMTP banner of the mail servers it connects with when
sending a message. There are free list cleaners that have been around
since mid-1998 (http://www.cauce.org/proposal/smtp-banner.shtml),
with source code.
This is of course NOT a feature request, I just want to be
able to say with high confidence how quick it would be for spammers
to make their direct mail rat-ware check for the notice. My strong
suspicion is that it'd take a competent programmer under 30 minutes
to add the code for the check and the "mail not sent" bounce message
routine.
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment,
Joe
