I have done this, but have not been able to determine whether the problem 
is SIMS or hardware. I know from Macsbug that SIMS is the active 
application at the time of the crash. The crashes only occur when SIMS is 
under a heavy load; otherwise the machine never crashes.

Per another suggestion from the list archive, I made sure that there are 
no unusually large mailboxes.

The strange thing is that SIMS never crashed until maybe four weeks ago. 
The only software I have installed on that machine since then is 
Retrospect backup software, which I have since disabled without stopping 
the crashes. We did have a severe storm recently, which is why I wonder 
about the memory.
