Well, this "backup" mail server is my ISP's mail server and I probably can't get them to reconfigure it. I made it my backup sever by entering it into my DNS' MX records with a lower prio than my SIMS. With that, the backup mail server has know knowledge of the existing of my server at all unless it knows that it has to look up the MX records by itself and find that it should not keep the msgs but deliver them to the higher prio server. Is that what a properly configured unix mail server would do automatically?
