Using SIMS 1.8b9d9, I cannot get SMTP auth to work. In the SIMS SMTP settings I have: (X) Advertise AUTH Capability (X) Allow ETRN for clients only For 45 seconds, authenticated IPs are treated as clients (X) Relay for clients only (X) Verify return paths
However, with Eudora 4.3.3 and 5.x (both paid, on MacOS) I cannot make it work. It always tells me "we do not relay". The relevant settings in Eudora are correct, as far as I can tell: SMTP server: mail.rumantsch.ch (X) Allow authotization Username and password should be okay, since otherwise I could not receive incoming mails. Of course I could use "POP before SMTP", but I don't like it, it's cumbersome. What else did I miss? Here is the relevant part from the SIMS log, in case it helps: 17:50:09 5 SMTP-040() Stream Created 17:50:09 4 SMTP-040() Got connection from [212.71.103.177:32843] 17:50:09 4 SMTP-040([212.71.103.177]) Sending 220-Stalker Internet Mail Server V.1.8b9d9 is ready.\r\n220 ESMTP is spoken here.
