Geoff

At the risk of flogging this dead horse even more ...

With MacHTTP, the "users" are actually outsiders who put
"www.domain1.com" into their browsers. Based on the rules you gave
it, Mac HTTP maps "www.domain1.com" to a particular folder, which may
or may not be called "domain1".

Similarly, when outsiders send mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", SIMS maps
that mail to a particular mailbox (a file) which may or may not be
called "fred".

SIMS keeps ALL mailboxes in one folder, so two cannot have the same name.

Other mail servers may use a different mailbox scheme which means
they could have the same name. I don't use Communigate, so I can't
comment on it.

However, SIMS can handle multiple domains (using the router). The
prefix/suffix scheme is really not an inconvenience. Your users set
up their username and password once and never think about it again.
You have the benefit of a free server that runs rings around lots
that cost money.
