Here's one possible scenario: If Verisign still has the old record as a name
server for an existing domain (ehg.net?), it will be given out by the TLD
servers as such. Resolvers might cache the bad (old) address for ns1.ehg.net
and use it when they find ns1.ehg.net as an mx.
