I have SIMS running on my machine here at home (Mac clone running Mac OS 9.1, Open Transport 2.7.6), and I use Outlook Express 5.0.4[1] to read and send mail.
Every few days or so, when I go to collect my mail from my SIMS account, Outlook Express will crash with an unhandled PowerPC exception (I think) at qrun+100.

When it restarts do you run any sort of repair utility or do a Desktop rebuild???
