Sorry if I came into this at the wrong end, but Tango 2000 and WiTango 5 files are editable within BBEDIT. They are XML files.
I use BBEDIT's Find/Replace to do batch tasks like change data sources and file paths across a series of files in a folder or similar all the time.
Unfortunately, I am using Tango for FileMaker version 3.62 and as far as I know, the TAFs are tokenized and not XML.
Upgrading is not really an option. I have Tango Editors on both Mac and PC and the problem ONLY arises when trying to create a file for SIMS using the file write action in Tango. If I use the mail action in Tango everything works fine - even when edited on the PC.
My conclusion is that SIMS is confused by finding CRLFs rather than CRs at the ends of TO, FROM and SUBJECT headers of files dropped into the submitted folder.
Much as I would love to use BBEdit - I am doing the editing remotely on a PC.
I have several workarounds:
1) Use Timbuktu and edit on the Mac by remote control.
2) Use the Tango mail action rather than the file action (seems to be the easiest!!!).
3) Edit the text in something like Crimson Edit or GWD Text Edit (both can save Mac line endings), save the file, load the file in Notepad (not Wordpad) which does not change line endings, cut the text from Notepad and then paste it into the Tango editor window.
I think I'll use #2.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
